Privacy Policy for VIDA QR Scanner & Generator

VIDA ("we", "our", or "us") provides the VIDA QR Scanner & Generator Android application (package name: com.vidapower.qrscanner). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.

1. Information handled by the app

Camera and gallery

The app uses the camera only when you choose to scan a QR code. Camera frames are processed on your device. When you choose “Scan from gallery,” the app accesses only the image you select through Android’s file picker. The app does not upload camera frames or selected gallery images to our servers.

QR content and history

Scanned and generated QR content may include text, website addresses, Wi-Fi details, contact details, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS text, map coordinates, or UPI payment information that you choose to scan or enter. The app stores scan history and favourites in a local SQLite database on your device so that you can search and reuse them. We do not operate a server that receives this QR content.

Protected-history PIN

If you enable protected history, the app stores a cryptographic hash and salt derived from your 4–8 digit PIN in private app storage. The plain PIN is not stored by the app. This PIN protects access inside the app; it is not a substitute for your device screen lock.

Wi-Fi QR codes

When you choose to use a Wi-Fi QR code, the network name, security type, and password are processed on the device and supplied to Android’s official Wi-Fi Network Suggestion or settings flow. Android controls the final connection approval and may retain network information according to your device settings. The app does not send Wi-Fi credentials to our servers.

UPI payment QR codes

The app validates supported UPI QR details locally. If you choose to continue, it passes the payment request to a UPI-capable app installed on your device. The external UPI app and payment provider control confirmation and processing. VIDA QR Scanner & Generator does not collect bank credentials, authorize transactions, or receive payment funds.

Saved, shared, printed, and exported content

Saving a QR image writes it to your device gallery. Sharing, printing, bulk ZIP creation, and CSV history export happen only when you request them and use Android’s system chooser or print service. The destination app or service you select may process the content under its own privacy policy.

2. Advertising and consent

The app includes Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Depending on your location, device settings, consent choices, and Google’s configuration, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect or share data such as:

• IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
• app and ad interactions;
• diagnostic information; and
• device or account identifiers, including advertising identifiers where available.

Google may use this information for advertising, analytics, personalization where permitted, and fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Data sent by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit. Where required, UMP presents consent choices before ads are requested. 3. Permissions

• Camera: scan QR codes when requested.
• Internet and network state: load ads, obtain consent information, and check connectivity.
• Wi-Fi state and change Wi-Fi state: read basic Wi-Fi state and submit a connection suggestion after you choose that action.
• Vibration: provide scan feedback.

Other technical permissions may be added by Google’s advertising libraries for ad delivery, measurement, security, and fraud prevention. Permission availability and behavior depend on your Android version.

4. Suspicious-link checks

The app performs offline rule-based checks to warn about some suspicious links. Link text is processed locally for this feature. A warning is informational and cannot guarantee that a link is safe or unsafe. Review the destination before opening any link.

5. Data retention and deletion

Local QR history and favourites remain on your device until you clear history in the app, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Temporary share, export, print, or bulk-generation files may remain in app cache until Android or the app removes them. Images saved to the gallery and files sent to another app must be deleted from those destinations separately. App backup is disabled in the app configuration.

6. Data security

We use Android private app storage for local records and rely on Android security controls. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep your device updated, use a screen lock, and avoid placing highly sensitive secrets in QR codes.

7. Children’s privacy

The app is a general utility and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly operate a service that collects children’s QR content on our servers. Advertising and consent behavior is governed by the audience and ad settings configured for the app and by applicable law.

8. Third-party services and external actions

The app may open websites, dialer, email, SMS, maps, Wi-Fi settings, UPI apps, sharing destinations, or printing services only after a user action. Those third parties are independent and their privacy practices apply once you use their services.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, legal requirements, or third-party services change. The effective date at the top will be revised when an update is published.
